So after all this, I STILL don’t give SD much weight in my load decisions. The reason for my focus on it here, as said before, is because that’s the accepted “standard” measure of consistency. I look at each speed that comes up on the chronograph display and write it down. I value range and extreme spread heavily, and I want to see small variations over the number of test rounds I fire, which is usually 10+. If I see a variance that could cost a point, that load is abandoned.
